FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Aviation Aluminum?

Aviation aluminum is a lightweight yet incredibly strong type of aluminum used in the aerospace industry. It’s designed to handle extreme stress and resist corrosion, which makes it ideal for high-strength dog gear. We use it in our hardware to keep things durable without adding unnecessary weight.

How much does one of your leashes weigh?

Each standard Biothane Dane leash weighs approximately 0.35lbs or 158g. Our leashes are light enough for the little guys, but strong enough to hold up to the power breeds too!

Is Biothane Chew Proof?

No, Biothane is not chew proof. While it’s waterproof, odour resistant, and extremely durable, it can still be damaged if your dog chews on it. We recommend keeping gear out of reach when not in use.

What is the difference between a regular clasp and a frog clasp?

Frog clasps are designed for maximum strength and security. They feature a quick-release locking system that snaps into place and stays put, even under extreme tension. This makes them ideal for strong pullers and reactive dogs who can pop a weaker clip.

Do you offer custom sizes and modifications?

Not right now. We currently offer our standard 6-foot leash and traffic lead. As our inventory expands, we plan to introduce custom options in the future.

Do you have collars?

Not yet, but we would love to in the future. As a new business, our start-up budget focused on leashes first. Collars require a completely different thickness of Biothane, different clasps, and different rivets, which means a whole new set of materials and production costs similar to starting from scratch. We are aiming for 2026 or 2027 to introduce collars, but if we can make it happen sooner, we absolutely will.
